A credit union! For someone ignorant about money! But I agreed, since I had no other commission at the time and, as so often happened, the man who asked me (Greg Kent) was persuasive and charming. In fact I became interested, especially in how credit unions formed and their early years as almost volunteer banks. It got a bit less gripping later in the days of Big Finance, but I still enjoyed this history – and Greg was always there to help.
One problem was illustrations. It was difficult finding anything other than either single men, or groups of men, in suits. The illustrations are not a strong feature of the book. We were lucky to get one interesting picture for the cover.
